itzjere Posted August 9 Share #1 Posted August 9 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just picked up a Q3 43, and while it is great that we can charge the battery through the camera, I prefer to use a wall charger at times with multiple batteries. What is the concensus for the BP-SCL6 chargers? Besides the Leica USB-C dual charger, are there any other options out there that have proven reliable? I have seen a lot of mixed reviews for 3rd party chargers like the Nitecore which is unfortunate. I'm happy to buy the Leica one if that is the only good option, but wanted to check with this group before doing so. Thank you!
Advertisement Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Hi itzjere, Take a look here Battery Charger. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Alexander108 Posted August 9 Share #2 Posted August 9 Good question. I was lucky enough that my Q3 still came with a charger. But not USB. I use 2 batteries and the charger is essential after a long day of photography.

I have Nitecore chargers for my CL and Q3s. They work every time.
Tarekith Posted August 9 Share #4 Posted August 9 I’ve been using this one just fine since January with my Q43 batteries. No issues at all: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZ7NCRYB?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1

Thank you both for this feedback. I guess I will just need to give it a shot and try for myself. If I'm being picky, I wish they were USB C connectors. One less cable/charging block to have around, especially when travelling.
Tarekith Posted August 9 Share #6 Posted August 9 Yeah that’s definitely a downside, I couldn’t find a cheaper charger that was USB-C either. I just leave a small adaptor attached to it at all times, it only adds an inch or so to the cable length.
jaapv Posted August 9 Share #7 Posted August 9 Advertisement (gone after registration) There is absolutely nothing wrong with Nitecore chargers, I prefer them over the Leica ones. The internet is replete with USB-C USB-A adapters and the other way around as well.
F-train Posted August 10 Share #8 Posted August 10 (edited) One of my Nitecore’s refuses to charge BP-SLC6. Officially it is a BP-SLC4 charger, so you could indeed say there is absolutely nothing wrong with it… They are way better than Chinese discount though. itzjere Posted August 10 Author Share #9 Posted August 10 Nice to hear there is some success with the NItecore and SCL6 batteries.
JNK100 Posted August 10 Share #10 Posted August 10 I use the Leica charger which works fine. I can't see a reason to go with a third-party charger.

I see both sides of the argument. I find it hard to justify the $265 price tag. Given the price of the camera, I feel like it should have been included. I think some things, going third party is acceptable. Either because the third party makes a better product than OEM (not necessarily cheaper), or the value isn't there because there isn't much complexity. On the other hand, if you're already this deep financially with the ecosystem, the OEM is a drop in the bucket comparatively. There are also some accessories I won't cheap out on, like batteries or memory cards. The charger is somewhere inbetween those two. I was able to find a gently used Leica one for half the price, so I went with that.

It wouldn't make sense for it to be included in some markets and not in others I surmise.

JNK100 Posted August 10 Share #15 Posted August 10 As did mine in the UK but that was 18 month ago. This regulation came in late 2024.
