I know Leica has a strong legacy in documentary photography — and rightly so. However, modern rangefinders like the M11 can also be excellent tools for experimental work. The rangefinder allows me to control movement during long exposures with great precision — I use the camera like a brush, not metaphorically, but quite literally.

I occasionally share here what I call metaphotography — images shaped through movement and abstraction. The M11 and APO-50’s microcontrast and detail allow me to print at 120×80 cm or larger, which completely transforms the viewing experience. Even when there’s nothing recognizable in the frame, the precision invites closer attention.

Wind Made Fragility

This image is not a traditional photograph of a forest close to the sea. It’s a piece of stained light, held together like artisan glass. The trees are solder joints — dark verticals that bind the trembling surface. Wind and water fracture the sunlight, and the camera, like a hot iron, fuses their movement into one pane. You don’t just look at it — it casts light back at you, as if glowing from within.
