Elliot Harper Posted July 23 Share #21 Posted July 23 Advertisement (gone after registration) I never had problems entering back go to Canada with Leica’s however I usually carry an original invoice. But most of the invoices issued by an authorized dealer show only $300 and matching serial number. Would that matter?

Kiwimac Posted July 26 Share #25 Posted July 26 Never been a problem. Never even been asked about it. I’ve been in and out of 45 different countries last time I added them up. Several times I’ve had airport security open my camera bags after x-ray because all the metal and glass looks a bit odd on the image, but once they’ve satisfied themselves they’ve always been happy to let me go without further hassle. Also there are lots of Rolexes in the world and worn by travellers. I know there is restrictions on currency and certain named items - like I can't take an apple (as in fruit) into the US> Fruits are that way in every country that has a fruit industry and it because of travelers introducing disease ans pests. The bug that attacks elms I think came to the us that way. It used to be the cabins of planes to countries like this were flooded with insecticides before landing. New Zealand for example did this for years. be thankful the eastern block doesn’t exit. My father went to Berlin many years ago and had to purchase a given amount of local currency every day of his stay and is was worthless paper. interesting consideration tho, perhaps a good reason to own a lux grip 🙂

What I can say is that NO control has been made of the items going out when I left continental China to Hong Kong. I went to China last year and in June this year and no declaration of any sort was asked. In any case I made a file of the invoices and IDs on a USB key that I bring when going abroad, but until now I never had to use it. When you visit a country are you actually importing an item on your person? My experience s suggest not.
