Jon Warwick Posted July 22 Share #1 Posted July 22 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Curious about this specific lens. There isn’t much written here on the forum about it, and how it compares to the SL APO Summicron primes (I’d be mostly curious about its performance versus the SL 50 APO Summicron)? Similar rendering, similar resolution across the frame? Is this the sort of lens one gets and wishes they just got the Leica and done with it (cost aside)? Any insight welcome. I’d be using for landscapes mostly, so maximum resolving power and edge-to-edge sharpness would be key for me. Edited July 22 by Jon Warwick

For landscapes mostly a lens is stopped down a bit more to e.g. F 5.6 - F 8 I should opt for a more small and not heavy lens ( F2.0 ) Me myself do own a Sigma 50mm 1.4 DG DN, but mainly using it for the fast aperture values. F 1.4 - F 2.0 - F 2.8 I think I never used it above F 4.0 ?? A year later when I bought the 50mm 1.4 DG DN, the F 1.2 version came out. Otherwise I had chosen for that lens. (Better LoCA at full wide aperture values). Have no experience using Leica lenses. (My camera = Lumix S1R ). Some examples by the Sigma 50mm 1.4 DG DN posted more early:

I hate doing this (suggesting you look at a lens that wasn’t in your question) but if a 40mm would be at all appealing I can’t say enough about the Sigma 40/1.4 Art. Truly exquisite performance on my SL2, but you need a hand truck. 1
