o2mpx Posted July 22 Share #1 Β Posted July 22 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Finally moved from a Silver CL with 18-56 kit plus 11-23 and 55-135 zoom for a SL3. The CL kit was not getting much use, coming up to Leica end of support post discontinuation, with higher resolution, improved evf and ibis etc., the SL3 will get more use with M lenses. The desire for small form factor still exists, understand many will disagree, personally trade offs from the modernized SL3 has more versatility for landscape shooting.Β Edited July 22 by o2mpx

For that kind of money, and still wanting a camera of a more manageable size, I'd be looking at used Ms. Or, well, the CL. I don't know that I've ever required higher resolution and I tend to zoom quite a bit in Lightroom. Some will feel differently, and there are many options in that price range. I have an SL2, an SL2-S, a Q3, and an assortment of M and SL lenses. I use the M lenses on the SL2-S a lot, and it works great, but the large SL body and extra weight seems but the proportion to the M lenses. Β So now I am thinking of giving something up and getting a CL. The Q3 is great, but the idea of using my M lenses on a small body for daily carry is really appealing. My lousy eyesight and glasses pretty much rule out an M body, so the CL looks like the next best solution. I'm worried that Leica won't support the CL at some point though.Β

And unless they revive the model, its window of serviceability is limited. I can't imagine they'll cease support soon but the writing is on the wall. I don't sweat that too much. They seem like very reliable cameras, and I'm careful with it.

The camera wa built for 6 or 7 years, so I can't imagine there is a big supply of parts, it was a uniquely designed camera unlike anything else Leica made. The problem is the camera I bought in 2018 is still working well, I'm 75 which one of us will run out first.Β 1
