Planar98 Posted July 16 Share #1 Posted July 16 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased a new M11-P from a dealer in Hong Kong and notice an issue with my 50mm Summicron V5. When mounting the 50, it clicks when locked in, but there is a very slight wobble, left to right when you grab the lens and move it. Neither my 35 Summicron ASPH or my 90mm Elmarit do this. All three lenses mount firmly on my M6. Any ideas what the issue could be. The photos I have taken with the 50 since getting it a couple of days ago are all very sharp, but it bothers me to spend this kind of money for a precision instrument and experience this. Any ideas? I will contact customer support when they open tomorrow. Thank you for your time and advice.

jaapv Posted July 17 Share #2 Posted July 17 You mean rotational? There is always a tolerance there and some lenses especially older ones may have a small amount of play. Completely harmless if not excessive and no reason for concern. BTW check whether the screws of the lens mount are tight.
Elliot Harper Posted July 17 Share #3 Posted July 17 Did you keep pressing the that little button when you turn the lens clockwise to mount? That could be the reason. I did it once, from an old habit of using Nikon for too long.
Planar98 Posted July 17 Author Share #4 Posted July 17 Discovered shortly after posting that the screws were loose on the lens mount. Everything is fine now. Time for an old film guy to learn digital.

I would expect those screws to have a dab of threadlock, but have no first hand experience. Hope you enjoy your no camera. I think it is excellent.
