WOODDENE Posted July 4 Share #1 Posted July 4 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have seen some monochrome images taken with the Leica M11 Monochrome and I have tried to convert colour Raw files taken with my M11 to look like those taken with the M11 Monochrome but wil title success. I appreciate that the Leica Monochrome camera does not have the RGB filters but there must be a way of emulating my images in Lightroom Classic with just a “preset” Have any other M11 users found a solution ? jaapv Posted July 4 Share #2 Posted July 4 B&W conversion is not a simple trick. It does take some postprocessing skill. Browse the forum and you will soon learn to pick out the accomplished conversions and discard the less successful ones. All postprocessing programs offer one or multiple ways to turn colour into sometimes excellent B&W. You will find plenty of tutorials in YouTube. The very worst way is to simply desaturate - that yield contrast less and dead images. A preset in itself will be hit-and-miss at best. You need controls over your contrast and tonality. In LR use the develop module and experiment with the sliders. One way to go is Silver Efex Pro, which after some practice can give pretty nice results. Oh - never convert from jpg if you can help it. Derbyshire Man Posted July 4 Share #3 Posted July 4 What in particular are you liking in the M11 monochrome files? I find them as flat as a pancake (which is a good starting point) before I start editing but the M11P/D files are in the right ballpark on average to start with.
jaapv Posted July 4 Share #4 Posted July 4 But once properly edited the files from any M Monochrom are unmatched. https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/422221-nsfw-kay-portrait-in-a-field/

jaapv Posted July 4 Share #6 Posted July 4 Nothing can induce me to let go of my M9M.
costa43 Posted July 4 Share #7 Posted July 4 Advertisement (gone after registration) I enjoy being able to use the colour channels for editing but the only Leica I regret selling is the M9M. The greatest digital M in my opinion for a ‘filmic’ file.
