Careful with the d-lux 8 "play" menu selections, I lost my photos on my M11

The topic seems odd, but let me explain:

the menu system of d-lux 8 is almost the same as these of Ms and SLs.  but there is a very small but "fatal" difference that I just discovered.  

on D-lux 8, when you press "play", then "menu", the top one choice is "filter", below are "delete single", "delete all", etc; while on Ms,  the top choice for "play" then "menu", the top one choice is "delete single", then "delete all", etc. 

I have been using d-lux 8 a lot lately, today I switched to use my M11.  When I tried to delete one single photo, my muscle memory led me automatically press down arrow to skip the non-existent "filter" choice and accidentally deleted all photos I just took.

So, if you are like me using both M and D-lux 8, then you should be very careful when trying to delete photos on camera.

I hope we have the option of deleting "filter" or move it down the menu.

Thank you for the warning. 
deleting images in-camera is not really best practice; there is no harm in culling in the computer and you avoid deleting an image mistakenly.

definitely.  I have decided not to delete photos in camera in future...

The process of deleting pictures in camera is rather straightforward with little room for error on my Canon R5, G5X ii and Ricoh GRIII. On my Q3 it is indeed not very intuitive. It happened to me that I touched "Delete" on the touchscreen, nothing happened, touched it again and two pictures were gone. 

Leica just did an awful job with that function if you ask me. 

For what it's worth. Recovering deleted files from an SD card is a bit tedious but possible if you stop using it after you deleted the files. SanDisk provides a code to such a tool with every SD card they sell. Needed this one time and it worked.

the main reason that I accidentally deleted all photos is because the menu system of D-lux 8 is almost the same as that of Ms and SLs, like this unexpected "filter" option on top of the list.  I hope in future firmware I could get rid of this option.  when I pick up my Canon, the system is so differently that I won't have muscle memory to rely on unconsciously.   thanks for the tip on SanDisk code!
