The wider strap is likely more comfortable, particularly over one shoulder with the 24-90, but the thinner strap is fine for me, cross body for extended carry, and gets out of the way much easier, especially if I’m handholding the body regularly or if I have the kit in a bag in my car to start. Slide Lite was going to be my compromise choice, but I stayed with the Leash. As an M shooter, accustomed to the thin and flexible 14312 strap, I never bonded with wide straps. The baseplate connector is only needed for me when using the big zooms; otherwise for smaller lenses the 2 lug approach works fine, and the thinner strap is even more appreciated. YMMV. The cool thing is you don’t have to get the entire L-bracket, just the bottom plate and save some money. It works like the PD system, but with the added feature of a wider section at the neck/shoulder area only for potentially increased comfort. I'm shooting a SL type 601 for use with several R prime lenses I've had for a very long time. Basically a 50/2.0mm, 60/2,8mm macro, 90/2,8mm 135/2,8mm and the lovely 180/3.4. I just didn't have something wide. I considered just picking up a 28 or 35 but was intrigued by all the positive comments on this zoom. Picked one up about a week or so ago and it's been so good to use. First zoom I've ever had where I don't feel like I'm really give up IQ by not using a prime. It is a heavy setup but even running the standard Leica strap so far I've been fine using it for hours on end. Surprising in that I'm getting up there in years and have damaged rotator cuffs on both shoulders. I've also got a lot of Canon gear to include a 5DSr with lot's of quality Canon glass and 8 various Zeiss primes. For a lot of what I shoot I don't feel I'm giving up anything using this 24-90. Maybe I'll feel different if I get around to doing some subjective test comparisions and pixel peeping but for now I am totally satisfied with the images the 24-90 is giving me. It’s not flawless, but it achieves more than the usual flexibility of a zoom lens, something natural and so clear, smooth but detailled. Photon42 Posted September 22 Share #138 Posted September 22 I have recently sold my Nikon Z stuff and bought into the SL system. Everything bought used short of the dual charger 😃, so it was practically a straight trade. Now after the first holidays using the SL3 with the 24-90 I have used this lens for about 2/3 of all the photographs I took. And that is from someone who hardly ever used to use zoom lenses (vario ...). It is really a great lens and for me it has the right amount of sharpness, similar to M lenses. In the beginning I was concerned about the weight, size and f4 practically from 60ish onwards, but honestly, all that does not matter that much. It focusses quite close, too and with a Canon Achromat even closer with more than acceptable image quality. 4 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
