rivi1969 Posted January 9, 2008 Share #1 Â Posted January 9, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was awake of course on my quest to find another R-D1 which seems so hard to find these days. Â Anyway, then I start wondering if it would be possible for Leica to launch a product for those like me who cannot afford 5k for a camera body but still dream with one. I know they are not going to launch an upgrade or a downgrade of the M8 anytime soon or maybe never, but I guess what would happen if there was something like a digital CM with a fixed lens and an real optical viewfinder, maybe the choice of 35 or 50mm lens with manual focus and the same 4/3rd sensor on the D3... Â Leica has the Audi A3 basic with their D-Lux 3 and the A8 with the M8, where is the A4, A5, and A6? there is nothing for those who can afford 2-3k in a digital body, I tried with the Digilux3/L1 and even with their beautiful images, there is nothing "M" in those huge cams. Advertisement Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Hi rivi1969, Take a look here I dreamed last night with a Digital CM.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spylaw4 Posted January 9, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted January 9, 2008 First of all in this thread there is an implication of something other than R10/M9 - 'X' camera. Somewhere in yet another speculative thread - I can't locate it right now - there was a mention that this 'X' was to be/could be (take your pick) another body for M lenses; so maybe your wish might come true! fordfanjpn Posted January 9, 2008 Share #3  Posted January 9, 2008 I was awake of course on my quest to find another R-D1 which seems so hard to find these days.  FWIW, there are still some new R-D1s cameras for sale in stores here in Tokyo. The best price I have seen is ¥188,000 (about Euro 1170). Even though I have an M8, I'm still tempted by the R-D1s.  Bill
rivi1969 Posted January 10, 2008 Author Share #4 Â Posted January 10, 2008 Thank you Bill, Â I have seen those on Ebay, unfortunately since my paypal account is based in Mexico none of them want to send it to my address in Texas. So I guess I will have to wait for a used one! Regards Ricardo
