I have a NOCTILUX-M 50mm f/1 that I will want to sell, and I would appreciate input, on both where to sell and value.

It is not one of the first 100 made, it number 115.  I bought it used in 1998, put it on a M6 and shot 3 rolls of film, and put it back in the box.

Please share you thoughts.

Thanks

Bob,

Since your Noctilux appears to have provenance and might attract a higher price than, sa,y my run-of-the-mill 50/1.0 Noctilux, I'd advise you to consider Photographica Auction in Vienna, which is owned by Leica now I believe.

I've sold Leica equipment through them when they were still trading as Westlicht (same shop, same people, just owned by Leica now) and was very satisfied with what they did.  They will make high quality pictures of your lens and publish them in their next auction catalogue, which attracts a large number of collectors who have few qualms about spending voraciously for items they desire.  The auction house charges a Seller's Premium (and a buyer's premium) to cover the cost of advertising and running the auctions so remember to take that into account.

Pete.

Thank you for your input.

First, it appears that they sell cameras, but not lenses, also their is fee is 20%.  I am in no hurry and will take time to look for other options.

Again, thanks for your input.

Hi, Bob, you're most welcome.

I've certainly sold lenses through them so perhaps they've changed since I last used them.

Yes 20% is a chunk but no more than my local Leica dealer would charge for buying from me (30% if selling 'on consignment' on my behalf using their premises.)

The upside is that a huge number of people will see your lens.

Whichever way you choose to go, good luck!

Pete.
