JohnHenry Posted May 28 Share #1 Posted May 28 Advertisement (gone after registration) Current app version is 1.7.3 Started using the Lux app yesterday together with the grip and noticed some bugs. In P mode when using the default lens 26mm you can pre focus using the shutter button. The focus square turns green when a subject is in focus. Then you can reposition your composition. Nothing fancy, how I use other cameras as well. Using other lenses (0.5, front lens) this does not work. The focus square never turns green. In A mode there is no focus indication at all (no square). Filed a bug report and got a really strange response from Leica. To share Dear JohnHenry Leica Lux and especially the aperture mode focuses on emulating classic lens characteristics, which may not have the same level of automatic adjustments, leading to images less processed and zooming is not possible. The aim is to emulating the focal length from the classic Leica lenses. jaapv Posted May 28 Share #2 Posted May 28 I'll translate the Leica-speak: It is not a bug, but a feature. 🙃

In commercials you can even see the focus function working in aperture mode as well. Edited May 29 by JohnHenry
JohnHenry Posted May 29 Author Share #4 Posted May 29 Other bug reported is the grip buttons do not work when the Leica Lux app is started from the lock screen No answer from Leica yet. My conclusion is both app and grip are really minimal viable products. One could argue if it is released too soon but for the price it is definitely not okay. Although both are great products in design I am going to return the grip. General remarks would be no reset button on the grip, cumbersome to start the Lux app first and wait for a few seconds to start the grip by long pressing the shutter button. No off button to safe battery.
JohnHenry Posted May 30 Author Share #5 Posted May 30 Hope this will be fixed in an upcoming update. Just to share; Dear JohnHenry, The missing green focus square in P mode with non-1x lenses or front camera is a known limitation — it only appears when using the main (1x) lens. The focus issue in A mode is a known bug, and the development team is working on a fix. dunfr Posted June 25 Share #6 Posted June 25 My LUX grip arrives this Saturday (yay!). At the moment I am using the Fjorden grip which has similar focus square issues/bug. However, on iPhone 15 Pro if I touch the screen the green box appears and the focus jumps, albeit slower than most real cameras, to my selected point. If I get it wrong, I alter the focus point in the LUX app edit function, which allows reposition of the focus square.
