You seem to be passionate about the original Steel rim, and I do appreciate that. Passion is important, with creative art. In my case, it was a 50mm* lens that drew me to add the Leica M system. I am simply not as passionate about 35mm Leica lenses. I would be more likely to passionately pursue a specific Noctilux-M 50mm, or, one of the pre-ASPH Summilux 50mm versions. *The lens that drew me toward the Leica M system was the Summilux-M 50mm ASPH. This was the lens that rehabilitated my desire to continue to photograph, a post-retirement self-gift, to act as an antidote to the stress and trauma of evidentiary/forensic/crime scene photography, with photographing living, breathing victims being the most difficult. So, I feel much loyalty to my first Summilux-M 50mm ASPH lens, which I found, pre-owned but well-preserved, at the local Leica dealer.
