Khiva in Uzbekistan is located in the Khorezm region in Uzbekistan near the Turkmenistan border. It was founded over 2500 years ago (legends suggest by Shem, son of Noah) and was one of the most important cities along the ancient silk road. The inner town is very well preserved and was designated a UNESCO site in 1990. During the day from 10:00 am to 7 pm the city is overcrowded by tourists and sometimes you feel like in Disneyland. But in the morning hours when the sun comes over the massive city walls into the inner town it is a wonderful atmosphere, no tourist, just a few inhabitants. This is the time where you can enjoy these wonderful historic monuments and old houses. The perfect setting for an Indiana Jones adventure….All photos were taken with the TL-2 and the 2.8/18

Thanks for watching

A very narrow staircase leads up to the minaret, from where you have a stunning view over the city

Really very narrow! Sorry this photo was not taken with the TL-2
