which batches have the best bokeh

You should have asked Steven (now banned). He's probably tried them all, as well as all batches of the original Steel Rim. 🤪

Improvement of V IV over V. III:

Better rendering of very fine detail in the centre, looks more "crisp"  overall, more 3-D effect and better separation. Better close-up performance.  Less glow.
The optical design is virtually identical but the V.IV has been recalculated.
You won’t see a difference unless the lens has been properly cleaned of haze.

I have tested all three (V3, V4, V5). The older, the more charming is the rule here. Would grab V3 in a heartbeat.

The silky render. The character. The imperfections.

V3 is a good mix between the softness and character of the V1, and the punch of the V4. I personally chose V1 + V4, but I understand why you would chose V3. Actually, I settled on Summilux pre asph + King of V4s as my compact 35mm kits, and the more the years pass, the more obvious it is to me when each of them needs to be mounted on my camera at a precise moment.
