I received a courtesy subscription to LFI magazine with the purchase of a D-lux 8.

I received my subscription number from Leica, logged into LFI website and activated the subscription. The website confirms my subscription till August 16, 2025.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to access the magazines. Everything I click on has a fee associated. I've clicked everything I can find with no joy.

How do I get access to the magazine?

Ii think there must be a glitch in the system, because I recollect ticking the relevant  box while registering my new Leica camera a few months ago and receiving nothing.

Exactly the same that happened to me after buying the M11P last July.  Emailed Leica customer service twice; both instances got only a link to the point where I started the procedure.  No help at all...  So, I gave up.

While not a hacker type, I´ve been using computers and Internet sites for decades, and the prescribed procedure was rather simple, yet I get nowhere (and Leica obviously consider my courtesy coupon already spent).  The total lack of support doesn´t make me want to pay for a full subscription either; if my money vanishes in that same black hole without a working subsription being delivered, I obviously have no help to expect from LCS... 😏

Wow, that is disappointing, especially for a company selling premium/luxury products.

Last night I sent an email to LFI support. We'll see what happens.

I wanted to send another email to Leica Corp, to have two fires burning. I just can't seem to find a customer service email. They have addresses for repair and software, but not a generic customer support email.

Thanks for your input.

I had several complicated experiences with LFI to get a full subscription. I almost gave up twice as the subscription did not work.
My experience is you must be a die-hard Leica fan and really want it to make it work..

I finally found a Leica customer service email. customer.service@leica-camera.com

I have sent an email to see what they have to say.

I promptly received an acknowledgment email in return. Now the wait to see what comes back from a human.

The email I sent to LFI yesterday has not been acknowledged or replied to.

Update-

This morning I received an email reply from LFI magazine (not Leica customer service):

"On the website you can read articles from the printed magazine in the section “Print Stories”. There you can find the last issue and all articles from the last years in a web-optimised layout: https://lfi-online.de/en/stories/print-stories

If you log in to the LFI app with your e-mail address and your LFI password, you can also access all LFI magazines in the LFI app for €0.00. The LFI archive with magazines since 1949 is available in the LFI App in the original layout.

Best regards,
your LFI team

I was pleased with the prompt reply.

I downloaded the LFI app to my iPhone, and while I am able to access the magazines from the phone, it is not properly optimized for a phone. The text is way too small to read and the photos are also too small to enjoy or analyze. The whole experience is non-enjoyable. Even if the text was phone optimized, I wouldn't bother. The pics would always be too small.

It appears I was looking at a magazine preview, not the actual magazine. You have to purchase the magazine for $0.00, then download, then press a "Read" button.

Now, while text is still too small, it can be zoomed to make larger. I still find it too awkward, fussy, and annoying to use.  I find smart phones to be amazing tools for phone calls, texting, emails, quick pics, and map directions, but most websites are still too fussy, limited, and annoying. When able, I will always reach for my laptop for proper use/navigation of most websites.

I will be removing the LFI app from my phone.

 While

I can access the Print Stories from my laptop, via the website, but I am still unable to access the Magazines from the website.

I sent a follow up question to clarify if the courtesy magazine subscription can be accessed from a PC on the website.

LFI is part of how I spend my Sunday… I take 30 mins or so to review

Before deleting take a look at the galleries (selection by genre)  and mastershots , I find both very interesting. Don’t hesitate to enter a mastershot or one of the contests. On occasion I find the stories interesting.

IMO its a nice magazine

While I'm sure there is worthy content within, trying to access it via my iPhone 8 is just not enjoyable. My eyes are getting older, and any content on a PC/laptop screen spanks the same on a mobile device. The app text is not optimized for mobile, requiring zooming and moving the screen around to just to read. I can't stand having to do that. Even the pics are too small for proper viewing, analysis, and enjoyment.  Imagine going to a museum and all the wall art was 2"x5". A non starter for me. I just don't enjoy the experience.

I don't understand why they provide free access via the app, but not the superior option, via the web and a PC. Makes no sense.

I hope you continue to enjoy your subscription.
