Since many of us won't know what the rest of us look like, I plan to be in the Ocean Bar at about 1 o'clock (crowds permitting) sporting a black baseball cap with "Leitz" in red.

Pete.

Submerged in the crowd maybe Pete? Us Leica pilgrims will be in the Opera Bar singing in chorus! :D

Whoops - sorry Bill and the gang, SWMBO has just told me that I'm cooking lunch for her friends tomorrow. So apologies but no can meet.

Have a great time - the weather forecast is looking favourable.

Michael

...Sounds like time for a takeaway, Michael! :D

Regards,

Bill

Doh! Yep I meant the Opera Bar, Brian. (I feel sure they'll rename it as the Ocean Bar anytime soon. I can feel it in my water. :D )

JUST a black baseball cap, Pete? I think we will have no trouble spotting you...

Me, I'll be tall, dark and gruesome, and wrestling to reload a screwmount...:p

Crikey Bill, the prices have risen a bit since I was last in the Chandos, a tenner a drink now <grin>.

Does anyone know why the beer is so cheap in such a central location? Last time I was there it was about £1.80 a pint from mamory.

Hope a good time was had by all.

A great day, superb contasty winter sunshine for photography(!), great company from Bill, Brian, Loin Cloth Pete, Robert and Tim later in the Chandos with lovely John Smith's cider! Wish you didn't keep leaving your loincoth on the table next to our drinks though Pete!

A little reminder of the day which for which I have captioned: "Whoops, we're slipping out!"

Unfortunately I must have missed everyone - I didn't arrive at the Opera Bar until 1:20 and couldn't see anyone I recognised. Not only were the trains from Peterborough running a reduced Sunday service but someone pulled the emergency alarm adding to the delay. Hopefully better luck next time.

Oh no! Sorry you missed us Bob - we were there until well after that time! We were through on the right towards the bar area. Several Leicas in view for at least some of the time!

Tsk tsk tsk, Mr Simmonds, you are a very naughty man! :D Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's loin cloth!

It was great to see everyone again and share a few giggles over a pint or two. Well done, Bill, for picking the venue - it couldn't have been better. Being that close to Trafalgar Square I was expecting it to be packed to the rafters but it was only pleasantly busy.

Bob,

Sorry you missed us! I tried to keep my Leitz cap (aka loincloth!) on as long as I could but it must've been resting when you stopped in.:( Hope to meet you next time!

Tim,

Great to make your acquaintance and I look forward to meeting you again at future get-togethers.

Shall post snaps later.

Pete.

Pete, (et al.)

Thanks for the warm welcome to the gang on Sunday. It was good to meet you all.

It was a pity I was only able to arrive late in the day and miss most of the street action.

Sorry I had to leave abruptly, my wife (and I) wanted to see what was still going on and so we went off into the crowds. Managed a few shots, which I may share on the photo forum when I have the time to get them ready.

Bob, there was a chrome M8 (mine) in Leicester square after the 4.00 pm fireworks, and yes, afterwards I was in quite a hurry to get away and onto the tube before the crowds - but it wasn't me at 3.00pm, so maybe there is someone else out there!

Bill, that's not my best side! :D

A good day, thanks all.

Tim

Ah, now I recognise you - the stranger in Leicester Square - you're the person on the left in Bill's photo above. I was wrong about the time, it must have been later than I thought I knew the fireworks were every hour on the hour.

I can spot an M8 a mile away..... :D

Bob.
