I am the happy owner of a Q2 reporter I have been using along with my M10M and SL(601) and my film Ms.

My M10M is my main camera as of today. Sometimes I lack color (but not that often).

I enjoy the fast response, weather sealing, wide aperture of the Q2, though it is a bit too wide for most of my photography (which is not so much of a problem as it is easy to crop given the MPix).

I am wondering if I should not seize an opportunity to sell it and replace with a M11-P to finally get a color digital M again…

My girls are no longer toddlers, and I can more easily live without AF (and probably be faster without sometimes), and choosing among my lenses to adapt to the situation would be nice…

comments and advice welcome :)

The Q can do two things the M can’t (easy): macro/close up and weather proofing. Therefore, to me, they have both their existence in my bag.

Q3 43. I was a bit like you. My M10-R and range of lenses are feeling a bit neglected since I got one.  Think of it as a state-of-the-art Leica APO lens with a weather proofed Leica body rpthrown in for free!

SL2-S and Q3 43 owner here, and previous Q2, CL and M240 owner.

My M240 got little use between the SL and CL, and little changed when I replaced the CL with the Q2, though I found the Q2 a bit wide for my taste. I find the Q3 43 focal length to be just what I want most of the time, but whereas the Q2 allowed you to go a little closer, the Q3 43 will not allow you to go a little wider when that is desirable. Thus I was wondering about replacing the Q3 43 with a M11. But then I realised I would want a couple of lenses: 28, 35, 75.... That's when I realised the enormous benefit of the Q cameras: you avoid the endless decisions about which lens to take or, if you take all, carrying them and changing lenses while the photo waits.

With a Q, as Olaf says, you have close up and weather-proofing, you have both A and S mode, and you have a camera that is always ready. I shall enjoy dreaming what I would do with the latest digital M, but in this world I shall practice photography, not mess with cameras and lenses! (And I have film Ms and Barnacks for when I want the feel of one of those bodies in my hands.)
