Dazzajl Posted May 11 Share #1 Posted May 11 Advertisement (gone after registration) Or should that be the worse? Could make a good case either way I think. I’ve missing my M8 ever since I sold it to buy a monochrom late last year and when the opportunity came up to buy one with a shutter issue at 8000th for £650, well, here we are. Took it for a little shakedown walk yesterday in the abandoned corner of the farmyard here and it’s all the wonderful things I remember. Welcome, dear visitor! Topsy Posted May 11 Share #3 Posted May 11 The older digital Ms have a different "feel" to them, M8/M9.

I love the 'whiring' and mechanical sound of M9 when I use it, but also love the crisp 'click' of latter models.
Graham (G4FUJ) Posted May 11 Share #5 Posted May 11 M8 for £650 sounds like a bargain to me.

It could still have a complete shutter failure just around the corner but can’t they all? For now, even though 8000th produces a black file, the shutter sounds and feels all correct.
chris_livsey Posted May 12 Share #7 Posted May 12 Advertisement (gone after registration) That is indeed a curious shutter error I have not come across before, it's usually "all or nothing". It may be worth checking the software version as a very early update noted a shutter "bug" was part of the "fix" of course I don't recall that, and they probably didn't specify anyway, but regardless it is worth checking although most later updates were to add lenses, that stopped when the memory capacity was reached I believe. Found the reference on here but not your issue as described.
