xbart Posted May 9 Share #1  Posted May 9 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an orphan lens hood and was looking for help identifying as to what lens did it go with. I found a Leica IIIf and a couple lenses recently, the 73mm has a shade with it and the 50mm did not have one, but it doesn't fit the 50mm, at least it doesn't fit the way the 73mm does ( they are both slip on).  The orphan lens hood is marked 42, I assume it means 42mm. My Leica knowledge is very limited, so any leads would be appreciated. I'm assuming it is a Leica hood, it is marked Germany and the slip fittings on it look just like the hood on the 73mm. -Brad Welcome, dear visitor! Roland Zwiers Posted May 10 Share #4  Posted May 10 It could also be an Ihagee lenshood for Exakta lenses. This does not exclude Zeiss lenses, as Carl Zeiss Jena was an important lens supplier for Exakta cameras. Unlike Zeiss and Leitz, Ihagee did not produce its own lenses, but acquired these from lens makers. Roland

I agree, mine looks very similar and the "42" looks exactly the same.
