After updating my M11 Monochrom I found that the complete shut-off takes longer than usual (until red light turns off). Cross-checked this on my M11 and M11-P which both shut off faster. After updating them shut-off on them also takes longer (though not always). As I was still rarely experiencing freezes with my M11-P and M11 Monochrom I hope Leica finally fixed that. On my M11 I have had no freezes since 2.2.1 although this is by far my most used Leica camera.

The updated cameras all have worked flawlessly ever since, no complaints. I updated them via SD card, no problem at all.

Looking at  what it was implementing, as in a true shutdown, without idle, the longer shutdown time makes sense. It does sound like it’d be good for the camera though if they were never truly shutting down before.

In relation to M11 this does not matter much, but, for example, Q3 43, turns on much faster if it was turned off recently.

I don't know that I'd be able to tell.  At the rate I take pictures the M11 battery lasts me weeks to months before getting to 50% which is about where I plug in the charger.

I just find my m11 slow per se, is how I like it. I didn’t know that about the q343

Updated my M11M without any issues.

Leica has added the instructions to "reset the camera to factory settings after updating" to the rear screen message when the update is finished. These instructions used to be buried on the firmware page.

If this update has any impact, than possibly regarding wifi:

Lot 6/26 in the EU Ecodesign Directive refers to the ecodesign requirements for certain product groups, in particular for household and office appliances and televisions. Directive (2009/125/EC) sets minimum requirements for the environmentally friendly design of energy-relevant products in order to reduce environmental impact. Lot 6 originally includes office equipment, and Lot 26 focuses on "networked standby losses", i.e. consumption in networked standby mode.

Elaboration:

Ecodesign Directive:

The EU Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC) aims to reduce the environmental impact of energy-related products over their entire life cycle.

Lots:

The Directive is divided into different "lots" (product groups), each with specific ecodesign requirements.

Lot 6:

Lot 6 concerns household and office appliances, including televisions. It was originally introduced for office equipment, but the implementation has been expanded over time.

Lot 26:

Lot 26 deals with the power consumption in the networked standby mode of devices connected to the Internet. This applies in particular to devices such as routers, smart TVs and other networked devices

Did the update earlier. My status light now randomly turns white and I have to power cycle the camera to restore any functionally. Manual say it’s a system issue caused by several  possible things including firmware bug.

seriously!

Not meant to be sarcastic, but I never understand why people rush to update especially such a minor improvement (and most people don't know what lot26 means anyway).

Why can't you guys sit tight and wait out?

I am still on 1.6.2 and very happy. :D

From what I can tell, this update only changes the power usage in stand-by, full off and such. Will be interested to see if the camera has better battery life and if it changes the response  of the camera from sleep mode and such.

The only thing I can recognise is a warning message when you completely deactivate the automatic switch-off.

Does it also shoot in color now?

For your reference, firmware version 2.2.2 improves power consumption in Off mode and standby mode.

In such a small and little energy consuming device? Honestly? Why have those institutions to interfere in every single aspect of life. And what - other than bureaucracy and failing products with higher prices- is the outcome?

Is the "Reset image numbering" yes/no question as part of a camera reset new?  I remember having to make sure the last pre-reset image I took was on the card to save image numbers.  Or something like that.
