Advertisement Posted Friday at 01:42 PM Posted Friday at 01:42 PM Hi TDog, Take a look here Firmware 2.2.2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
RobW0 Posted Friday at 01:46 PM Share #2 Posted Friday at 01:46 PM From what I can find, it has to do with power usage in stand-by and when off and in various other modes. Not sure if this will be a positive, a negative or a wash on the M11. I think I will wait and see what the reviews are on this first.

Definitely my plan… it’s sounds like it could be lightly beneficial, but if it’s a forced procedure by the EU, the implementation of something essentially not needed could be done badly, given Leica history of shockingly bad m11 firmwares in the early days.
tedwill Posted Friday at 02:01 PM Share #4 Posted Friday at 02:01 PM I applied the update on my M11P. And it worked fine. I took several test shots, shut the camera off, turned it back on, changed lenses. Everything worked out fine. 3
LeicaGuyUK Posted Friday at 02:30 PM Share #5 Posted Friday at 02:30 PM No magenta cast fix then? I am joking of course 1
RobW0 Posted Friday at 02:51 PM Share #6 Posted Friday at 02:51 PM From what I can tell, this update only changes the power usage in stand-by, full off and such. Will be interested to see if the camera has better battery life and if it changes the response of the camera from sleep mode and such.
DadDadDaddyo Posted Friday at 03:26 PM Share #7 Posted Friday at 03:26 PM (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Really, guys, firmware isn't magic, and shouldn't be subject to superstition... "...when moon rise witchy in sky beware firmware beware...." Honestly... I'll be happy to take the plunge with my M11 and M11M. And I'm happy for evidence of Leica's support for continued improvement. Just imagine if they'd announced they're would be NO new firmware! Reckon we'd hear some squawking then! Tseg Posted Friday at 03:36 PM Share #8 Posted Friday at 03:36 PM I just put in the firmware... and I have a green cast!
DadDadDaddyo Posted Friday at 03:38 PM Share #9 Posted Friday at 03:38 PM And, done. Effortless update via FOTOS app. Only thing, my mojo seems to be stuck sideways, halfway down my sarcophagus. And it feels as if I'm ending some of my sentences with the wrong eggplant. Otherwise, furry, I mean, fine.

Looks like I should wait with updating the Monochrom.
IMAGEPOWER Posted Friday at 03:52 PM Share #11 Posted Friday at 03:52 PM After updating my M11 Monochrom I found that the complete shut-off takes longer than usual (until red light turns off). Cross-checked this on my M11 and M11-P which both shut off faster. After updating them shut-off on them also takes longer (though not always). As I was still rarely experiencing freezes with my M11-P and M11 Monochrom I hope Leica finally fixed that. On my M11 I have had no freezes since 2.2.1 although this is by far my most used Leica camera. The updated cameras all have worked flawlessly ever since, no complaints. I updated them via SD card, no problem at all.

That is the only thing that this update does.
Smogg Posted Friday at 03:56 PM Share #13 Posted Friday at 03:56 PM Why do you update the firmware if there is nothing useful in it? There is always a risk that something will go wrong.
IMAGEPOWER Posted Friday at 04:06 PM Share #14 Posted Friday at 04:06 PM vor 2 Minuten schrieb Smogg: Why do you update the firmware if there is nothing useful in it? There is always a risk that something will go wrong. I have been updating firmware since I bought my first D-SLR (Nikon D1X). This means several updates per camera on D1X, D2H, D2Hs, D3, D3s, D3X, D4, D4s, D5, D6, D8100, D810, D850, Z9, M10-Monochrom, M10-P, M11, M11-P, M11 Monochrome. I have never had any problems, only advantages. Do have a look at the history of Nikon Z9 updates to appreciate how many useful functions were added. And from Nikon I know that AF has been modified and improved a lot during its history of updates although not always noted in the release notes. Now, give me any reason why shouldn't I update?

I mean only this firmware. It does not bring anything useful, judging by the description. In the forum, if my memory serves me right, you can find posts with unsuccessful update experiences, after which the camera needs to be sent to Germany for several months. I would rather stay with the old firmware if the new one does not indicate fixing significant bugs than lose the camera for six months.

If Leica publish 2.2.3 or higher in future (with "useful" changes) then 2.2.2 will be included anyway...and as I live in Germany I could always even drive to Wetzlar myself or have it sent via my Leica Store...did that for a new leatherette on my M10-P Reporter, no problem at all. Oh, I just realized you live in Moscow...I can understand now that you are over-cautious...
