Thinking of getting the Urth ND 1000 filter for my Q3. I have a B+W UV on all the time mainly for lens protection.

Is there any major vignetting issues with stacking filters on the Q3?

Other than protection there is no benefit to a UV filter on a digital camera &nbsphttps://m.dpreview.com/articles/7333331953/should-you-use-a-uv-filter-on-your-lens

So just remove it, the ND filter will protect your lens and you won’t have to worry about vingnetting.  As well everytime you add a piece of glass to the front of the lens you increase the likelihood of internal flare.

Two filters stacked will start to degrade image quality, avoid this if possible, especially with a UV filter that adds no benefit to the stack.  The added issue of separating the filters can be challenging, they like to bind to each other, brass or aluminum it doesn't matter.

I always have a protective filter on the Q3's lens, a B+W 49 007 CLEAR MRC nano T-PRO (how's that for a simple type designation...). I sometimes screw on a B+W 49 802 ND 0.6 2 STOPS 4x MRC nano MASTER on top of the protective filter. Both are so thin that I can even activate the macro setting without the filters bumping into the OEM hood.

Of course I was concerned that stacking two filters would degrade image quality. When I point the camera at the sun I can see some ghosting but there's very little difference between the ND filter on or off, so I stopped caring about it and simply screw the ND filter on the protective filter.

You’ll be absolutely fine stacking them. No vignetting. I use a screw-in UV filter on the camera all the time, and have Urth filters that go on that.

You are likely to be interested in my field test of an Urth magnetic filter set on my Q3, versus a Lee Seven5 square filter set. Lots of pics including size comparisons: https://www.lens57.com/blog/review-urth-magnetic-filters

Awesome, it was mainly the vignetting that was a concern. I’ll do some quick testing but think I’ll just stack them.
