I had the same problem with my M11P which went back to Leica repair who had to order a new board from Wetzlar. They sent it back to me in brand new copndition, and I promptly sold it for what I paid because I completely lost faith in it, especially after my original Q3 did the same thing just months before and had to be replaced by Leica (again which I sold when I got the replacement, recouping my original purchase price). When I sold the M11P, I bought a mint used CL with pancake 18TL lens for an excellent price. And I also bought the 23 TL to go with it, as well as a M-L adapter with which to use my M lenses. It's a delightful camera, takes truly excellent pictures. But I've been missing shooting full frame digital color, not having a crop factor applied to my M lenses, which is why I was thinking of diving back into the M11/M11P pool based on my assumption that the latest M11 firmware had finally solved the freeze issue. So thank you for posting your experience which has firmly stomped out my misguided assumption on the latest firmware. I still have my M11M, and knock wood I only had once incident of a freeze which resolved as soon as I took out the battery and put it back in. Now and then when the mood strikes, I shoot color (in addition to b/w) on my 2 film cameras - MP and M6 classic. Also, 1 month ago I bought a mint used Q3 which is working flawlessly and produces perfect images. But I miss being able to shoot full frame digital color and will probably (foolishly?) jump on the M11V if/when it's released provided it implements manual focus as well as the Q3 does - and I know this is heresy, but I prefer EVF with focus peeking over rangefinder focus. Yes I know there's no guaranty that this camera won't also suffer from freeze issues, but common sense tells me that with this new release Leica will be sure to make sure it doesn't. Anyway, after that long rant, unfortunately it seems you have no choice but to send your M11P into repair. well, never say never. I spoke to the head repair tech at Leica NJ. He assured me that the latest firmware updates coupled with a newish build M11P pretty much eliminates the freezing/bricking problem. So, because I'm a glutton for punishment, I just got this with a 5/25/25 build date Welcome, dear visitor! o2mpx Posted June 25 Share #46 Posted June 25 Is there another way to tell if the body was from late production if the outer box isn’t available?
