Greetings:

Just took delivery of a new D-Lux 8, and I am looking to fit it with a wrist strap. I have looked at the A&A adjustable silk cord wrist strap which meets my requirement for being minimal in scope, but I am wondering if there are others out there that I should also be looking at that would be better or perhaps a better value. Also, if anyone has experience with that A&A strap, I would love to hear what you think - much appreciated!

Vic

some discussion previously here:

@Jasn - how did you manage to insert the anchor, dental floss? i once tried but found it very tight so I held off, fearing i'd break the lugs.

I had no problems inserting it. Just squeezed the strings together and pushed through lugs. Using dental floss or similar might be a good idea.

Ah you used split rings. That's much easier, but then does it potentially scratch the top plate?

I saw photos in reddit where the anchors are directly fed through the eyelet. So it is possible, just takes trust and courage I guess. 😁

Use supplied plastic protectors on split rings. Install before you feed the cord through. I don’t think they scratch camera.

A lousy picture, but that was only one I found…

I find the Peak Design cuff too bulky for this camera. It's also very difficult to get on and off. Very secure though.

I'm using the D-Lux 8's included wrist strap, improved with a black hair tie wrapped around as a tightening slider.

I make my own with Paracord 425.  I leave the strap long enough so I can easily reach into a pocket without taking it off, and just wrap the extra around my hand.  Paracord 425 is much thinner than the typical 550 used for straps, but I figure 425-pound breaking strength is more than enough.

I’ve been using Peak Design Cuff wrist strap for few weeks no and I can really recommend it.

Peak Design Cuff

Same. It had been a long time since I had a real camera, so the Peak Design ecosystem was new to me. But when I realized how useful it could be, I bought a Leash and a Cuff. My normal carry is cross-body with the Leash. The D-Lux 8 is compact enough that it's really unobtrusive sitting down at my side. When I want to take a photo, I press the power button as I'm lifting it. By the time I get it up in front of my eyes, it's ready to go. But when I pack it away in a messenger bag or backpack, it just has the Cuff on it. Much easier to wrangle it in and out of its case with the Cuff, plus the Cuff is great when I just want to take a few photos and then put it away, or when I want to leave it out, say, on a table in a restaurant.
