vicaf Posted April 24 Share #1 Posted April 24 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greetings: Just took delivery of a new D-Lux 8, and I am looking to fit it with a wrist strap. I have looked at the A&A adjustable silk cord wrist strap which meets my requirement for being minimal in scope, but I am wondering if there are others out there that I should also be looking at that would be better or perhaps a better value. Also, if anyone has experience with that A&A strap, I would love to hear what you think - much appreciated! Vic
Advertisement Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Hi vicaf, Take a look here Need advice for wrist strap for D-Lux 8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
starcolony Posted April 24 Share #2 Posted April 24 My D-Lux 8 literally just arrived. I haven't even opened the box yet. I have some old frumpy wrist straps I could use, but a Leica deserves something special. I'll be following this thread to see what comes up.
Jasn Posted April 25 Share #3 Posted April 25 I’ve been using Peak Design Cuff wrist strap for few weeks no and I can really recommend it. Peak Design Cuff
JCF Posted April 27 Share #4 Posted April 27 some discussion previously here: @Jasn - how did you manage to insert the anchor, dental floss? i once tried but found it very tight so I held off, fearing i'd break the lugs.

I had no problems inserting it. Just squeezed the strings together and pushed through lugs. Using dental floss or similar might be a good idea. Jasn Posted April 27 Share #6 Posted April 27 Sorry! I trusted my memory and the camera wasn’t at hand. Supplied with the Cuff are metal split rings. You install one through the camera lug and feed the anchor cord through that. Hope you didn’t damage your camera lugs? Here’s an installation video. JCF Posted April 27 Share #7 Posted April 27 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ah you used split rings. That's much easier, but then does it potentially scratch the top plate? I saw photos in reddit where the anchors are directly fed through the eyelet. So it is possible, just takes trust and courage I guess. 😁

Install before you feed the cord through. I don’t think they scratch camera. A lousy picture, but that was only one I found… Welcome, dear visitor! leicas_boyfriend Posted May 4 Share #10 Posted May 4 My choice is the recent Leica original one in black for my D-Lux 7 https://leica-camera.com/de-DE/fotografie/accessoires/gurt/handschlaufe-d-lux-8-leder-schwarz Fixed with a metal ring and good enough to prevent the camera from getting dropped once your hand is through the loop, even if you let it loose.
SharedCow Posted May 9 Share #11 Posted May 9 (edited) I find the Peak Design cuff too bulky for this camera. It's also very difficult to get on and off. Very secure though. I'm using the D-Lux 8's included wrist strap, improved with a black hair tie wrapped around as a tightening slider. Welcome, dear visitor!
