Advertisement Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Hi Susie, Take a look here Anyone ever tried the Leitz LTM 73/1.9 Hector with adapter on an M or SL?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
roydonian Posted April 13 Share #22 Â Posted April 13 Leitz used six-digital serial numbers from 1931 until some time in 1952. Since the 7.3cm Hektor was in production during the 1930s, all but the earliest examples will have six-digit serial numbers.

Not shot on a Leica but could easily be used on an SL (I use a Sony) - and I've posted it for information purposes. If I still had an SL it would have been shot on one! If you want 'character' many simple, early lenses can be tried. This is shot on a Grubb Patent cemented Doublet from the early 1860s. It has lost its front washer stop holder and would originally have been limited in maximum aperture by this stop. As it is the result of using it wide open is an image with underlying detail but which suffers from all sorts of problems. Depending on subjet this can be effective. Cost was under £200 for what is, even incomplete, a very rare surviving lens. Welcome, dear visitor! I even like the fog effects, even if not natural.

I sent you via PM my serial number, but I cannot determine what the actual year of manufacture is since on Leica WIKI it is not listed, but it is a number before the 1932 series. Can you offer any help there?
Susie Posted April 13 Share #27  Posted April 13 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here are a couple of portraits of Karl, shot using the 7,3cm Hektor on my M9M with the very minimum of post-processing (mainly because I don't know what to do!) It was quite dark and I missed the focussing on some, but those I got right are remarkably sharp. Welcome, dear visitor! sandro Posted April 14 Share #30 Â Posted April 14 Hector 1.9/7.3 cm with serial numbers 128.222 to 128.225 are from 1932, also the numbers 128243 to 245, and 128.346 to 528. Those are the serial numbers I find in Thiele, perhaps yours is in these groups as well. Lex
