I did the same and found the Kastar as well but unfortunately Amazon will not ship them to the Island of Sardinia so i bought the original Leica SCL6.
On other cameras i used several non OEM brands (but no Kastar) and experience was good so no idea about Kastar.

Reminds me of a post not to long ago.

Leica people spend thousands of dollars on cameras and lenses, often load the cameras with expensive cases and accessories…and complain about the price of a battery that powers the whole thing 😂

I couldn't agree more.

Why take the risk for a relatively small amount of money compared to the camera...

I never understand why people spend their hard earned cash on expensive camera equipment then skimp when buying the power source for that camera, so my advice is simply buy the Leica batteries, your camera deserves them.

I can explain the high price of the camera somewhat by the amount of manual work and the quality, but the price of the battery is inexplicable because it is a 1-on-1 product from China

Most third-party batteries skimp on safety measures like overheating protection and charge monitoring, measures absolutely needed for lithium-ion batteries. As an illustration, read this article on Fuji NP-W126S alternatives; I know, not Leica, but it offers good insight into the subtleties of battery design.

It may or may not be exactly the same - I imagine not though.

I wouldn't want to risk voiding the camera warranty for the difference in cost in any case.

We sell both OEM and off brands for all the majors (Leica/Nikon/Canon, etc).

They are most definitely not the same.

The only non Leica batteries I would comfortably suggest are the Panasonic in cameras that will take them.

I found that there is a difference in lifespan between Leica and third-party batteries. China does produce both first-quality products and second choice ones at a clear price difference

What's with the sudden increase? I bought a Q3 battery 2 weeks ago for $280Cdn!  That was bad enough, but now they are selling for $542Cdn!

Adorama is selling them for $380US. At the moment, B&H still has them at $200US.

Tariffs kicked in.

Looks like Adorama got new shipment (post-tariff), while B&H is still selling off pre-tariff inventory.

Try buying from Japan or Hong Kong where there are few or lower tariffs on entering Canada. Don't pay the Trump tax.
