kkcsm Posted March 31 Share #1 Posted March 31 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry, shortly after posting and with more experimentation I discovered user error. And I can’t see how to delete a dumb post…. Sorry for the noise. Edited March 31 by kkcsm
Advertisement Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Hi kkcsm, Take a look here SL3 and SL3-S: Auto ISO + Auto Shutter Speed -> Shutter speed too slow. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ImmerDraussen Posted March 31 Share #2 Posted March 31 If the camera is set „M“, the shutter speed is your decision. No automatic will override this. Putting the camera to „P“ should give the desired result. Andreas
kkcsm Posted April 1 Author Share #3 Posted April 1 I *think* I was initially correct. I believe the problem resolved itself after I completely shut down the camera and turned it back on (I am in the habit of changing lenses without powering down the camera. I have a picture at ISO800, SS 1/13. After power cycle, the same shot was ISO 10,000, SS 1/160. I cannot be entirely sure though… I’ll see if I can make it happen again. You are correct that the shutter speed is my decision. But if auto ISO chooses too low of an ISO and I adjust shutter, correct exposure will be reached with too low of a shutter speed. jaapv Posted April 2 Share #4 Posted April 2 And a bad habit that is - a powered sensor will hold a static charge that will attract dust. And by changing lenses you are admitting dust. However guilty as charged, I sometimes don’t take the time to switch off and on….
