That is where the NAHNE and variations such as VULPE started. The first photo from catalogs of the late 1800's up to the 1929 Microscope catalog, show the extent they were offered. 224a to 224k, very popular Welcome, dear visitor! It continued on to the mid 1930's in enlarger catalogs for critical focus of the enlarger image. The versions that mounted directly to the baseboard were VULPE and VULVI. It is shown in this photo. I have the stand mounted version of this 54mm magnifier, NABILCAP or 220a. Long before the Leica, they were used a dissecting and general magnifiers. In 1932, Leitz introduced the well known NATRA with opal glass NAMAS for viewing film strip negatives. Later as 35mm slides became popular, a thin metal attachment for the NATRA is noted (as shown in OP) and last photo here. I have never seen a code word for this modification of the NATRA to take the 2 x 2 inch slides. I assumed it was more likely "aftermarket" rather than officially by Leitz. Here is the NATRA wih NAMAS in the center with the slide modification on either side.
