I hate zoom lenses because of their size. However, having the ability to zoom can be useful. The number of pixels in modern sensors allows you to solve this problem using digital zoom. For me, the lower limit is APS-C. The upper limit is of course unlimited. So for me, I consider the Leica q3 43 as a camera with a 43-60 f / 2-2.8 zoom lens, and the GFX100RF as a camera with a 28-50 f / 3.2-5.6 zoom lens, but with much more convenient controls (BBF, many crop display options, including frames, darkening of the area, full screen mode).

f4 not enough for street photography? 99 percent of magnum photographers' photos are taken with a closed aperture. 99 percent of Instagram photos are taken with an open aperture. The choice is yours😀

Ha ha, i like this post. Cannot check the numbers you have presented, but my Impression is, that you are spot on 😎

FWIW: the 35/4 lens does rely on digital distortion correction.

This is not surprising. Almost all modern lenses for digital cameras are designed this way.

Besides, I like the tough competition in the premium segment that has started in recent years. This will keep prices down, I hope. There are a lot of good premium cameras on the market now.

Absolutely no effect whatsoever. The only price reduction X2D will get is when the X2D II comes out (very soon), tons of people will be selling the X2D because they will think the second iteration will make their photography better.

There goes my wishful thinking out of the window 😂

First person to tackle that really tough question huh. So which way have you gone? Black or silver?

Have black coming. Presumably shipping early April is what’s been said.

This 28 eq. F/4.0 lens doesn’t do anything for me. If they come up with how to integrate their 50 f/3.5 into a similar body, then I‘d be much more intrigued. I hope they will follow Leicas lead with the Q3 43

This may be true until you do digital zooming. And the camera actively promotes this feature. So I would set the speed more conservatively.

My understanding is that the Fuji is equivalent to a 28mm f3.2 . This is very nearly 2 stops slower than the Q3 rather than the 1 stop mentioned in the thread somewhere.

I use my Q at f1.7 frequently so would notice the difference in selective dof control.

What hasn't been discussed as far as I can see, is the 4:3 vs 3:2 format. I have always used the latter so this would take some getting used too I think. Using the Fuji at 3:2 takes the MP down to only 90mp (😉) and reduces the sensor area used to 90% I understand.

What I am unsure about though is exactly how the 35mm MF lens 4:3 compares to the Q28 in terms of fov and dof due the squarer format.

Quite a few concerns about the apparently slow aperture. Is that really a huge concern with MF? I didn’t think the priority for this sort of equipment was for bokeh/ Noctilux wide open type shots. Maybe I’m wrong.

The IBIS issue is a bit of a red dot herring. The Q doesn’t have IBIS either and in lens stabilisation is not anywhere near as effective and can have some unpleasant side affects in the way the lens renders OOF areas.

I've read a few reviews since yesterday, and if they wouldn't have reminded me every 3 lines that this is medium format, I would have thought that those samples were taken with a random Viltrox lens on some kind of full frame.

To me that lens looks super sharp but very flat and dull, not up to the medium format richness.

But hey you can crop! Didn't you know that megapixels=quality?

Side by side, any Q is going to humiliate this fuji in terms of tonality and color separation.

Lol, what a cope, and I'm not an IBIS fan at all, but this is cope. I imagine this guy shooting bursts of 5 or 6 frames and showing the only one not shaky

competing with the q3? for almost the same price you get an almost 2 stops slower lens and no Ibis......so i think no issue here

Technically, Sony cameras are significantly superior to Leica cameras and are significantly cheaper. However, people find reasons to buy a Leica camera. That's the same story. It's all about ergonomics. Those who like the ergonomics of the GFX100RF will buy it. Not everyone cares about F-stops.
