New Leica S (Type 006) with firmware 2.0.0 in 2025... can it be updated to 2.5.0?

I recently purchased an open box/new Leica S (Type 006) with firmware 2.0.0 installed. When I download the newest firmware (2.5.0) onto an SD card and insert it into the camera, nothing happens. Do I have to track down every update and install them sequentially?

No, you don’t need to incrementally update the Firmware.

Make sure that you save the actual firmware file to the root of the SD card (it’s best to have a newly formatted card for this purpose).

The camera should recognise the file when you perform the upgrade via the menu.

I recently updated the firmware on my S2-P and per the instructions you have to hold down the small AF/AE button on the back of the camera when you turn it on. The camera will then check for a firmware file automatically.
