Chris Akin Posted March 22 Share #1 Posted March 22 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently purchased an open box/new Leica S (Type 006) with firmware 2.0.0 installed. When I download the newest firmware (2.5.0) onto an SD card and insert it into the camera, nothing happens. Do I have to track down every update and install them sequentially?
Advertisement Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Hi Chris Akin, Take a look here New Leica S (Type 006) with firmware 2.0.0 in 2025... can it be updated to 2.5.0?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted March 22 Share #2 Posted March 22 No, you don’t need to incrementally update the Firmware. Make sure that you save the actual firmware file to the root of the SD card (it’s best to have a newly formatted card for this purpose). The camera should recognise the file when you perform the upgrade via the menu.
Sarnian Posted March 22 Share #3 Posted March 22 I recently updated the firmware on my S2-P and per the instructions you have to hold down the small AF/AE button on the back of the camera when you turn it on. The camera will then check for a firmware file automatically.
Chris Akin Posted March 22 Author Share #4 Posted March 22 That button is apparently only on the multifunction hand grip accessory.
Chris Akin Posted March 22 Author Share #5 Posted March 22 I've reformatted an SD card several times, uploaded the firmware to it, and inserted it into the camera, but the camera completely ignored it. I can't find anything in the menu to address the problem either.

Chris Akin Posted March 23 Author Share #8 Posted March 23 I held down the joystick when turning on the camera, and the new firmware update was initiated. Thanks for your help.
