Einst_Stein Posted March 17 Share #1 Posted March 17 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have film tank and other tools. I want to get film, shoot, and Develop before flying back. Where to buy in Madrid or Zaragoza?
Advertisement Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Hi Einst_Stein, Take a look here Where to buy 120 b&w film develop chemistry (developer & fixer) in Madrid. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
erl Posted March 17 Share #2 Posted March 17 Ambitious! Good luck. Not with finding the chems, but with doing it properly and securely on your travels.
105012 Posted March 17 Share #3 Posted March 17 I can’t directly answer your question, sorry, however I am on a trip where I have been doing something similar. I purchased chemicals here in Japan, a quick visit to a Yodobashi store (Akihabara). I also picked up some extra film, in addition to the rolls I brought with me on the flight. When I finish a roll I process it in my Rondix 35, main thing is getting the water temperature right for the first step (development), knowing your thermometer helps. I will compensate the time if the temperature is a degree or so high, after that it’s simple and easy. Inspecting the negatives by eye and loupe, they look fine, across multiple hotels. Good luck! Einst_Stein Posted March 17 Author Share #4 Posted March 17 Just realized powder developer and fixer are fine in check-ins. I might just carry from home. Film is more problematic. Sometimes I forgot to ask for hand inspection, bad if just once. Also, I felt intimidated to ask hand check on opened or exposed films. Buying locally is preferred. I got that a Japanese named store in Madrid has many 120 films. Kentmere 120 is about the same price here from B&H (6.19 Euro vs 6.19 USD). I guess with powdered dev should do. It's easier for the security people to inspect/swab film if it's out of the cans/wrappers. Carrying it in a clear plastic bag helps.
bags27 Posted March 18 Share #6 Posted March 18 (edited) I intended to shoot 120 film in Barcelona and Madrid last October, but in the end took a digital camera. But I had contacted a camera chain named Carmencita film labs with stores in Barcelona and Madrid for me to buy film in Barcelona and then drop it off for development in Madrid (before flying home). In emails, they were very nice and knowledgeable. Edited March 18 by bags27
stray cat Posted March 18 Share #7 Posted March 18 Advertisement (gone after registration) Like Ken, I’ve used Carmencita for processing but via mail order from France and Italy. My experience with them echoes Ken’s.
