Hey all - is anyone using the PolarPro Magflip on their Q3 or Q3 43?  My copy seems a bit loose when screwed onto the lens.  It’s often not secure and moves.  So the flip hinge is never quite even and moves around.  Do others experience this or did I get a defective one?  I assumed it would secure similar to the Leica hood but it slips even when screwed tight.

I have two of them and both threaded into the lens very tight, the hinge also is very tight as well. Are you sure you have threaded it completely in the lens threads? When I initially installed the units there seemed to be some hesitation going completely in after two turns but I gently continued threading it into the leans threads until it was very well seated and tight. Just saying this was my issues when initially installing the lens hood. After that first install there was no hesitation for it to thread easily onto the lens.

I might add that the units have two separate circular rings that attach to the lens and after completely tightening the inner ring completely then you can hold the inner ring and adjust the outer ring to align the square hood properly. I didn't make this discovery when I installed the first hood and then after a closer examination I discovered there were two rings meshed very tightly together that allowed (outer ring) the final hood adjustment. Hope this helps!

Yes, it can rotate once it’s threaded in, but not at the threads.  If you look closely at the part that threads onto the camera there are two rings there.  I don’t know why they made it that way, but once it’s tight on the camera, hold the ring closest to the camera and then align the outer ring so the hinge sits where it’s supposed to.  Mine has some resistance there, but I can literally turn the whole thing 360 degrees while it is completely threaded onto the lens.  Maybe some people prefer to flip it so the hinge is up instead of down.

For those here that are using the lens hood and are not having this issue, are you using the Q3 or Q3 43?

I noticed when I installed the Polar Pro Magflip on my Q3 28 it fits perfectly and it tight when I screw it on however when I install it on my Q3 43 it seems to be looser even when it hits the stopping point on the screw thread.

Q3, Q3 43 all seem to fit identically.Moving the outer ring on the (two part) rings once attached to the lens does have considerable friction and takes some effort to move for alignment the square hood properly. I prefer the hinge to allow the hood to swing down, positioned below the lens rather than up, above the lens. Just seemed like it was less likely to make contact and damage it in that position.

Perhaps consider contacting the supplier and ask for a replacement or at least have a conversation with them concerning the issue.
