Is the so-called color space of 4:2:0 on the Q2 Monochrom camera meaningless because there is only one set of pixels, rather than three, reacting to light hitting the sensor?  So it is actually equivalent to 4:0:0 ?  I am coming from a  film background so am not clear on the video codec of this.

Colour space has nothing to do with the sensor. It is assigned on conversion of the raw data, much further on in the processing pipeline. From a Bayerless sensor output one can use Greyscale or one of the RGB ones with three identical colour channels. The latter is preferable as it allows the application toning and has more freedoms in postprocessing. Come to think of it the Luminance channel of L*A*B* is fine as well.
The ICC sheet you mention is basically meaningless as it refers to colorimetric rendering which is not applicable to monochrome input.

I never said it was about the sensor -  the sensor's output is being put into a color space  by the camera after the sensor registers the light.   And I said it is basically meaningless to talk about color space with monochrome.  I asked this question because the CAMERA'S MENU SPECIFIES COLOR SPACE OF  4:2:0 ON VIDEO SETTINGS. OK?   So that was confusing to me since there is no color space - though yes, one could add toning if the monochrome information was added into a color space.  Never mind - I knew this, like other forums,  will just be a display of egos, so I will just figure it out myself.

And it only took you two forum posts to display yours.
