Advertisement Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Hi rollsman4, Take a look here Panasonic S 24-105 Lens Feedback. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Richardgb Posted February 14 Share #2  Posted February 14 I used the Lumix S 24-105 as my main lens for over 4 years when I had an S1. Although I can't compare it to the Sigma, I'd say it's a good all-rounder but does show a little weakness at its extremes. The MTF curves bear this verdict out. Having said that, the Lumix lens is certainly as good as if not better than the other manufacturers' similar offerings. Some contributors to other forums rate the Lumix lens as excellent, but that's taking it to subjective extremes. Whether you'd notice any of this would depend on the subject. In general, too, the longer zoom range of a 24-105 compared to the 24-70 does stretch optical design further. In comparison to a 24-70 (not necessarily Sigma's), the longer reach will be useful to get tighter (adult) head and shoulders framing - a 24-70 would be more likely head and chest.
o2mpx Posted February 14 Share #3  Posted February 14 Used this lens with the SL2 for travel and landscapes but not portraits or strobe. Sharpness good even out at corners but less contrast than Leica’s 24-90 which is much heavier and shorter focal range. Had used the Leica version of 24-70 which has better color saturation and contrast, but changed it to the 24-105 for the broader reach.
Olaf_ZG Posted February 14 Share #4  Posted February 14 Using strobe, f2.8 doesn’t give you much. The Panasonic however, will give you 24-28 (group) and 70-105 (portraits). So, between the two you mentioned, I would take the Panasonic.  I also thought about this lens, but decided for the 24-90, though price is significant higher. I am happy though that I bought it.
