Duisburger Posted February 11 Share #1 Posted February 11 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Sigma 28-105mm f2.8 DG DN ART vs. Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN II ART Which lens would you choose and why? I have Leica SL2-S I need a lens for “always on” What I care about is the image quality and the bokeh. Can anyone say something about this? Have any of you already tested the lenses in parallel? Advertisement Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Hi Duisburger, Take a look here Sigma 28-105mm f2.8 DG DN ART vs. Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN II ART. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 11 Share #2 Posted February 11 Do you really want a big lump for a daily use lens? There is very little if anything regarding image quality bokeh etc. to choose between these two lenses. So go for the smaller one. Even that one is quite a bit to carry. I went for the 28-70 contemporary which is more than acceptable for daily use.
PhotoCruiser Posted February 11 Share #3 Posted February 11 (edited) I never use a neck strap, my SL2 is either in my hand or in a bag, so weight does not really matters for my use. In most cases i have the Sigma 28mm 1.4 DG HSM ART attached and it's a bit bigger and heavier (+300g) than the 24-70 you mentioned and i would not like to have it dangling on my chest. However, for everyday use i would go with the smallest and lightest one, the 24-70 II in your case. jaapv Posted February 11 Share #4 Posted February 11 I don’t mind heavy gear myself either- I often carry the SL2S with the Sigma 70-200 Sports and the Panasonic 35 1.8 in my pocket. But I never dangle the camera around my neck. Always diagonal straps For wildlife in the field that will be supplemented by th Sigma 150-600 on the S5Ii on the other side. However for casual all day I will go for light and compact I.e. SL2S and 28-70 or Summicron 50 SL to reduce weight and bulk.
Photoworks Posted February 15 Share #5 Posted February 15 28-105 is probably the best lens for studio portrait photography. I may pick up one next week. I was using 24-70 and Leica 24-90. 70mm is too short, and 90 is ok but not enough, on the canon I am using 24-105 and it is the perfect range to shoot people and switch from full length to close-ups.
