Tarekith Posted February 6 Share #1 Posted February 6 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, Had my Q3 less than a week but there's something I keep running into that I can't find any info on the manual. Every so often when charging one of my Q3 batteries in camera via USB-C, the charging light on the back of the camera will switch from a slowly blinking green to a quick blinking red light. Like I said, I can't find any mention of this in the manual, and searching online only led to one result where a user said this is normal and signifies the camera is discharging the battery as part of the charging process. No one else seemed to agree though. I'm still waiting to hear back from Leica about this, but I've been hesitant to leave the camera plugged in and charging until I get some confirmation this is normal. Any insights? Thanks. Advertisement Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Hi Tarekith, Take a look here Q3 43 - Blinking red light when USB-C charging?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
BradS Posted February 6 Share #2 Posted February 6 why are you hesitant to let it charge?
Tarekith Posted February 6 Author Share #3 Posted February 6 If it’s a faulty battery I’d rather not leave it connected to power in my new camera.
Trankster Posted February 6 Share #4 Posted February 6 Try a different charging block and/or usb cable. Mine charges (green blinking to solid green) with an ordinary 2A or 3A output charger and generic usb-C cable.

With USB-C charging, much depends upon the cable and to a somewhat lesser extent, the power supply.

I have the same problem at the end of the charging cycle, but only with one of my two original Leica batteries, the cable is the same. If I remember it well, new batteries have to be completely discharged several times. Edited February 6 by EUSe

It's an Anker 60W power supply and the same TB4 cable I use to charge all my cameras. Maybe it's too much for the Q3. 3 hours ago, EUSe said: I have the same problem at the end of the charging cycle, but only with one of my two original Leica batteries, the cable is the same. I'll post back if I hear anything from Leica support.

Mmmm, probably the power supply and cable are not the issue then - especially if they work fine for the other cameras and batteries. It might be interesting to get a USB-C power monitor thingy and use it to watch the charge process. I have one of these.... https://a.co/d/c1D8nBZ Edited February 6 by BradS
