Hello, does anyone know how to change the tracked subject when using the Face/Eye-tracking AF mode? E.g. when you have a group of 4 people and you want to switch focus between them for separate shots?

The theory is that you use the joystick. Left-right for faces that are separated more sideways than vertically, and up-down for faces separated vertically.

The practice is that (a) it is difficult to persuade the focus to remain on the selected face and not jump to another at will and (b) it is not always obvious whether to use left-right or up-down on the joystick.

I'm writing from experience with the SL2-S. Reviews suggest that the SL3-S is less inclined to jump from face to face, but will still do so.

The SL3 in AFc and face/body is very sticky in small groups as long you half-press the shutter.

Joystick can change the subject.

Tracking is not the same as Body/face, it uses a square and can track any combination of subjects.

In my test is less sticky and can jump around a bit.

What do you call a small group? Around 4?

4 works fine, I would not use it for bigger groups. there is always the challenge that people move and turn away.

I find all does boxes distracting. I like the original box without the eyes so that I can monitor expressions.

Yes, this jumping around can mess things up. It seems the software wants to offer the next best alternative after it dropped the ball rather than prompt the user for a new choice. Seems I need to train my thumb to push back on it faster. I'll post a few trouble examples later.
