o2mpx Posted January 30 Share #1 Posted January 30 Advertisement (gone after registration) After searching for a while, picked up a mint copy of M10-R Black Paint without any brassing, in wait for personal wear. Attempted to register on Leica Owner site and of course previous owner, or selling dealer didn’t remove prior registration. Since contacting the dealer went without response, sent in a Help form on Leica’s My Products section and received reply within a couple of days from Birgitta Mielke, Customer Care – Product Registration & Software Support, explaining that the purchase receipt showing serial number, or a copy of the invoice plus a photo showing the serial number would do it. After resending a photo with a cleaner view of the serial number, camera was registered; all took within about a week. A nice interaction that ended well.
Advertisement Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Hi o2mpx, Take a look here Sharing Leica Support Experience. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pgh Posted January 30 Share #2 Posted January 30 That’s nice and all but wait until your camera actually needs servicing and then see how you feel. Current wait, about 16 weeks (reported). I’ll be it’s more like 24. 1
AceVentura1986 Posted February 1 Share #3 Posted February 1 Yes, my experience with Leica NJ has been the same. Very polite and attentive people over the phone or via email but completely bonkers and unreasonable wait time on actual service.
o2mpx Posted February 2 Author Share #4 Posted February 2 Just for clarification, interactions were with Leica Wetzlar.

I am very lucky that I live in Thailand and they recently opened an official Leica service center here in the same building as the Leica store at Gaysorn Village in Bangkok. I think during my vacation I'll make an appointment just for a sensor cleaning and check just to have a visit. This is really great. Onsite service without having to send it anywhere. Alberti Posted February 2 Share #7 Posted February 2 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had the same good experience. Bought a used Monochrome in a Paris red dot shop. I had to send the invoice. Turnaround of administration just a few days. She also gave me some LFI numbers (how to say that in English).

It's probably some data they can monetize somehow. I think that's about it - not sure there is a concrete user benefit - other than a trail of ownership if you don't maintain your own. It's never even been linked to my service orders or anything useful - and I've sent a number of things in over the years.

Lens, not a camera but might be the same. Leica gave me an extra year on the warranty (EU based) for registering my 35mm APO M within a short timeframe from purchase, plus the standard 3 month LFI. theseahawk Posted February 13 Share #10 Posted February 13 (edited) If your camera is stolen and you previously registered it, you can report it to them with a copy of the police report. Leica NJ told me if such a stolen camera was later sent in to them for service they would assist the registered owner recover possession of it. Considerably more than zero customer benefit.
