Anyone tried PolarPro MagFlip Hood? I saw an ad for it yesterday, and it seems it would solve my issue. I often use my Q3 43 with a PolarPro Everyday Filter, and I must remove the hood when I attach the filter.

The MagFlip Hood looks good in photos except for that hinge at the bottom. However, I am unsure if the magnets are strong enough to keep the hood from moving when the camera is in the bag or attached to a camera clip.

I have one on pre-order. Not sure when I will get it. I do not have a 43 only a 28 at this time, but might not be able to resist the next time it comes in stock at Leica USA.

I do have it, magnets are strong enough! Way easier now to change filters.

Only one issue with it so far, the original leica cover lense will not fit the new hood.

If anyone find a solution please let me now.

Oh, that's great to know! Do you have a Q3 43? If so, can you check if the filter works in the macro mode?

As for the cover - I used Match Lens Cap on all my Qs starting with the first one, and I believe it is much more practical than the original cap.

Yes I have Q3 43 and does work with macro mode, will have a look for the Match lens Cap hopefully it fits.

Awesome, thank you!

I placed an order for the hood, and I'll check if it works with the lens cap once it arrives :)

Ok, just got mine, here are some pictures.

It works with the PolarPro Everyday Filter in Macro mode on Q3 43, and it is compatible with the Match Lens Cap I mentioned before, but the fit is tight - the Polar Pro lens hood is slightly bigger than the Leica's. I don't love the "PolarPro" engraving on the front, but I can live with it.

The hinge rotates separately from the hood mount, so you can have at the bottom, at the top, or at the side if you want. It's a bit annoying because it moves easily and is never at a straight angle for me.

But this thing does the job, and looks good, so I'll keep it :)

Nice equipment. Works great, ordered another today.

Great design and worth the cost, for me that is. They are on back order as of 2/8/2025 with estimated shipment March 15, 2025. Best to get one ordered.

For filter adjustments just open hood, adjust, close and shoot. Hood aligns as needed because the hood attachment to the lens is two parts and the rings have friction between them so once tighten to the lens you can adjust the hood accordingly to be squared with the camera body. Wasn't expecting that feature...but it does extend the overall length of the hood approx. two-tenth of an inch, not an issue for me.

I picked one of these up, along with the Shortstache filter (out of curiosity more than anything else).  So far, so good.  As others have said, it's easy to use and helps solve a potential problem.  I also order the Otech Q-Cap, which I have not yet received.  We shall see if it fits, but if so it's a fantastic overall solution, I think.

I received mine today. The otect cap works on this hood just like the Leica Q3 hood.

The otect cap for the standard Q28 hood?  On the Otect site, there is a preorder for the Q3 43 version.  I just want to make sure I order the right one.

I have one and it does not fit with polarpro.

The Otech lens hood cap fits both the OEM lens hoods of Q3 28mm & Q3 43mm and also the Polar Pro Mag Flip Hood.

Yes, I was surprised when I got an email from otect the other. I had asked them if they had any plans to make a cap for the 35mm APO, they said not this time because they were busy working on the cap for the Q3 43. I would say that the cap does not fit exactly the same on the flip hood as the 28 hood, but it is a very slight difference. I think this difference is because the metal on the flip hood is slightly thicker than the 28 hood.
