Since the sensor is new with HARDWARE AF upgrades it will be interesting to see how it performs at say ISO 25000 -50000.

What would that have to do with M lenses?

I tested out an SL3-S with MF 50mm at launch event. Was fairly dark inside, but focus/feel is exactly like SL3, which is to say the same as SL2/s.

I didn’t have a chance to really dial in Capture Assistants, but focus peaking and magnification (I think it was set to a back button, not magnify upon focus ring turn) all were fine.

I may have said this in another thread, but the SL3s is a boring camera because it just works. In that sense it’s a bit of Das Essentials, I’m not thinking 60/36/18, and with MF lenses, not thinking Phase, contrast, subject area, face area, maybe birds AF?

That said, the AF with the 35mm Asph AF lens was very good, and with the APOs you can feel “something” in the lens moving back and forth, I suspect this is the elements assembly. It’s not a bad thing, but it’s noticeable. The APO focus is ok, slower than the ASPH as expected but it would be fine for my style, especially coming off a much older system.

so I’ll be getting an SL3-s for use with my M glass (thought I might be the only one). The sum of the improvements works for me, and I don’t have an SL2s…if I did that’s a harder call, strictly speaking for use with m lenses.

The only thing I can’t figure out is that left hand dial…it really needs a lock/unlock function somehow. It’s like a design afterthought that was good enough. My .02/cents, YMMV.

It is for servicing the camera and does not provide any useful functionality for the user😜

yes it is crazy that there is no Lock

I have started programming a button to lock and unlock dials. that helps!

Havn't used the left dial once, by purpose, that is. But it has unitentionally changed the ISO many times. Frustrating. I haven't check the status now, but the left dial, once put there, should be fully programable. And it should have a lock. Sometimes design ideas and/or estetics triumph usability.

It locks all dials which is a shame, not just one dial.
