This might be a Barnacks Bar thread.

When social networks were launched, they were a new form of democratic expression of opinion. They are now being misused by entire states to undermine democratic values. Hordes of children and young people are either politically neutralised or targeted. These so-called social networks are now more anti-social than beneficial to the common good. They also turn hitech billionaires into oligarchs. This does not seem to me to be a good development. And that's how I see it with Tiktok, regardless of who the owner will be.

There was an old saying “ All problems of democracy can be solved by more democracy” Is it still true.

Anyway, if banning TT causes “TT refugee” flee to Rednote or any other similar network, should they also be banned? By government or parents?
