I just bought an S006 that replaced the new sensor in 2018.

Since the number of S006s with new sensors is very small, I grabbed it this time. In the next few days, I will compare it with S007.

I hope that S006 can bring me a surprise.

I spent $2800 to buy a s006, a new sensor, the machine was rarely used, very new

Great buy.

I had a S007 earlier and only kept a S006 with the new sensor.

S007 is a more modern camera but I prefer the files from the S006.

Furthermore, a S006 with a new sensor is harder to find than a S007.

Enjoy your new camera.

Congrats for the purchase, I bought myself an S-E with a replaced sensor in very good shape for Eur 2000 about a month ago and so far pretty happy with that, I like the colors straight out of camera much more than the 007, so I decided to jump to the less modern CCD iteration (as many others did before me apparently 🙂). And the S lenses will remain lovely (and usable) for years to come (and can now be found for very reasonable prices first of all). Enjoy!

I started to mess around with a LRC preset to give 007 files a 006 look using pics from this post (thank you David).  I am sure someone with both cameras and a color checker could do a much better job (hint hint). Below preset is a another take on the great Red Dot Forum collection.

I tried your preset. Interesting, here is a screen shot of the result from a random test. The 006 preset is on the left, the Capture One processed as I normally do and exported to .psd file is on the right.

I went back because I realized there were adjustments made in Capture One that were not made in PS. Here is a more apples-to-apples comparison, 006 preset on the left, 007 straight file on the right:

Interesting.  What has struck me about the 006 files I see online is always the blues. Just FYI, the v1.1 preset I linked to does not effect clarity and sharpening.  (Again photo credit D Farkas)

Just of fun:

006 file                                                                                                                                       007 file with 007 to 006 v1.1 preset

007 file with RDF S2 preset with Presence and Sharpness to 0                                           007 file

here’s what I would want to see.  How about a nice sunny bright day landscape shot.  That is where I think the dynamic range increase helps over the ‘ccd look’. But that is just my opinion, others could differ.
