Snipe10 Posted January 2 Share #1 Posted January 2 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a Q2M and was going to buy a Q2 to pair up with it but never did. Then the Q3 came out, and while it had some upgrades, I passed. Now with the Q3 43, I think that's the one to grab. You can buy a Q2 much cheaper than the 43 though. Question is would you suck it up and just go with the 43. I'm loving the idea of having a 28mm and a 43mm. Thoughts?
Advertisement Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Hi Snipe10, Take a look here Q2 or Q3 43. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
anonymoose Posted January 2 Share #2 Posted January 2 I'd recommend renting the Q3 43 to make sure you like the focal length. I loved the Q3 43's FL in pictures I saw, but after renting one and spending a few days with it in Yosemite I realized I actually prefer the Q3 FL + cropping in when necessary--fits my style of shooting better.

Might start hunting for a Q2M to pair it with my Q3-
stephenmick Posted January 3 Share #4 Posted January 3 (edited) This is exactly my setup. I had the Q2 originally, and added the Q2M. When the 43 was announced, I sold the Q2 and have had the Q3 since the week it was released. Now, most of what I shoot is black and white. And what I really wanted was the focal length difference of the 43, so having the the 28mm and the 43mm options makes sense. But it's a big outlay of cash, so I'd agree with anonymoose above. Rent if you can, just to make sure the 43mm fits what you want. Edited January 3 by stephenmick
RQ44 Posted January 4 Share #5 Posted January 4 Ask yourself, 28mm wide or 50mm narrow. Then you will know.

But I also don’t tend to shoot them at the same time. I’ll usually spend a few hours with one, then switch to the other, depending on the environment.

I agree 100% I never missed a 43 or 50mm lens, if i am too far then i walk towards the motif/scene or if that is not possible i crop it later. Using the 43mm one could walk from motif/scene away, but if this is not possible then something will be missing. Chris
