On my M10 Monochrom, and my MP when it's loaded with black and white film (which is always), I use contrast filters. I have the Leica yellow (too weak an effect, rarely use), a Leica orange (very useful, I keep it on), and a Leica green (almost never use it). But there's no Leica red filter, so I bought an E39 Dark Red filter from B+W, which, IMHO, is much more useful than a yellow or a green. It's especially great for skies with big, puffy white clouds, which we get often this time of year. So I'm curious: Why doesn't Leica offer a Leica-brand red filter?  It's one of the traditional contrast filters for black and white photography.

Well they used to sell red filters but that was back in the day when photographers intrinsically knew what filters did, but I don't think todays M6 buyers are nearly as knowledgeable. So I look at the lack of a red filter as Leica not bothering anymore (they don't make their own filters anyway), and Leica got themselves (and photographers) into a logistical mess with the vast number of sizes they'd need to order because it's not just M system 39mm  and 46mm. So perhaps the yellow, orange and green will only last until the stock runs out?

I don’t have knowledge to comment the above link. It thinks orange filter is as far as it can go.

Could it be the much attenuated spectrum of the still digital sensor?  Due to the Bayer pattern, that It does not  get the spectrum response of the red filter as films does or cine digital camera or the monochrome sensor?
