michali Posted January 4, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 4, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My first pics on safari with the M8 & 90mm Elmar lens f8 at ISO 320. The Caracal or African Lynx is a medium to small sized cat inhabiting a wide range of habitats, and is the most powerful and fastest cat for its size. Taken this afternoon at Zuka game reserve South Africa. Thanks MIKE

michali Posted January 5, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted January 5, 2008 Thanks all for the feedback, always appreciated. This pic was taken with my very well used 1954, 90mm Elmar on the M8. I am always amazed at the results this lens delivers! Dave- We have a number of Caracal in the area, this young male is particularly relaxed, I got to within 3 metres of him in the Land Rover, it took about an hour and a half though. It was late afternoon and caracal start becoming more active at that time Thanks again for the input.. MIKE

michali Posted January 5, 2008 Author Share #9 Posted January 5, 2008 Mike, A pleasure to look at. Nice work with your combination of old and new components. Al Al- This is what I love about Leica, the fact that you can take a lens made 54 years ago and use it on their latest camera! That's quite something, I tell friends about this and they're astounded. I've recently acquired a 28mm f2.0 but achieve almost as good results with the 35mm f3.5, or the 50 mm f2 & 90mm f4 all made in 1954. Thanks & Regards, MIKE
psquared Posted January 6, 2008 Share #10 Posted January 6, 2008 Mike, Beautiful pictures! And to be able to take them with "only" a 90mm lens. That must have felt awesome to be that close! Peter
