The dealer I work with told me Leica will replace a "dead camera" within the first 30 days. I would insist on a replacement.

Thanks.I will ask my country dealer keeps pressing them on replacement.

Been 3 weeks and dead is kind of disappointment.

I have a dealer to send it back to EU.Anyone knows how long does it take to get the camera repaired once Lecai has received the item ? I am prepared for few months may take but Lunar new year is comming and i am in hope that i will get it back soon.

Any possibilities that i will get a new replacement since my cam is merely 3 weeks old to be exact.

My cam was frozen on 1st day using, removed the batt solved it.But not lucky this time.

In the UK I'd be demanding a new unit and or trying to get a card chargeback. A virtually dead on arrival £8k camera is not the purchasers fault. However local laws and customs differ! 3 weeks is essentially out of the box. The ratio of ownership to repair time and cost is important.

Totally agree. Although our consumer legislation will give the seller opportunity to correct fault, I think the timescale would be judged unreasonable.

Yup,it’s metal and made of brass. However,it’s a custom order from a specialized Leica gear shop and being precise CNC cut to make sure it doesn’t intact any camera connector pins.

Thanks for your advice.

Take that flash cover out first as it looks metal.

unless your M11 is really broke ALL the flash contacts are recessed so a metal shoe cover isn't a problems. Leica even sell a slab of expensive metal to go there too!

Hot shoe issue arise when non compatible brands of flash are attached and confuse the circuit when they make contact with the contacts!

Probably correct, but JUST IN CASE why not remove it to see if to makes a difference. since that probably is not a Leica flash sync cover so perhaps it does touch a contact underneath.

This is not even the camera that had the problem. This is a replacement camera. Your advice will only make any since if he has problems with this one.

i tried and things just stay the same. The camera is only 1 month old and i try to firgure how to make it operate again.

I’ve read that the repair will take 3-5 months.Too long.My guess it would be a damage to mainboard.I took out the lens and see dust protector doesn’t close.Send it to Leica probably the last resort.

Just reread your first postings. What do you mean by "try to figure out how to make it operate again?"

I was of the first assumption that it never turned on, but this makes me think it was operating  before you experienced this problem you mention in #1 post. Correct?

Now down to your post about getting a replacement. Glad this worked out for you.

My comment about using non-Leica made accessories still holds. You just never know about their tolerances versus Leica made items.

i had an issue that camera was lag, slow responding like 2 times on the first day.Removed battery solved it.But this time the problem was real and i ended up getting a new one.Dealer said the camera probably had a mainboard failure.

And your advice about non Leica brand made somehow is correct on cheap items.I won’t dare to use cheap one on Leica camera. However my hotshoe is precise made and it doesn’t contact any contactors. They charged me quite abit to make and took 3 weeks to complete ( i ordered since the 1st camera was still ok )

Thank you and have a good health.
