George777 Posted December 20, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted December 20, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just got a brand new sl2 through B&H sale. I noticed the top info bar disappears when the shutter is half pressed. Anyone knows how to keep both top and bottom info bar on all the time when taking pictures? It is so annoying to see half of the auxiliary displays disappear and reappear whenever I take a photo.
Advertisement Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Hi George777, Take a look here Leica Sl2 info bar disappears when shutter half pressed. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoworks Posted December 20, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted December 20, 2024 you are looking at essential exposure data.

Often framing is more essential than seeing the exposure info, and that bar gets in the way of centering a subject and/or corner placement. We should at least have the option for it to not show when the shutter is half-pressed. Call it "Composition Priority" display mode option.
hdmesa Posted December 20, 2024 Share #4 Â Posted December 20, 2024 (edited) We also need an option for the LCD live view that shrinks the entire image to fit below the info bars much like what happens in the EVF due to its taller screen ratio. I don't mind all the exposure info displayed on the LCD and the EVF. What kills me is that the top info bar just disappears when I half-press the shutter to take a photo; it reappears whenever the shutter is not pressed. The constant on-and-off display of the top info bar throws me off. Also if I disable all the information on the screen and half press the shutter, the bottom info bar will appear. Leica should at least give us options to make it static. I read the manual yesterday and found no settings to change it. I'm going to the Leica LA store after work today to see if they can fix it.

You can email a firmware feature request to: info [at] leica-camera [dot com].

jaapv Posted December 21, 2024 Share #8 Â Posted December 21, 2024 In that case the store can easily fix it. Sell the OP an SL3.
jaapv Posted December 21, 2024 Share #9 Â Posted December 21, 2024 TBH I never noticed this in my use, - I often shoot with a completely info-free EVF-Â Â but then I find it completely OK that all non-relevant information disappears when one half-presses the shutter. On the SL2/SL2-S, if you have nothing showing on the screen, a half-press of the shutter makes the bottom info bar pop up. If you have the info bars and other stuff showing, a half press of the the shutter makes everything disappear except the bottom bar. This keeps me from being able to compose a shot while the shutter is half pressed because the info bar is dark enough to obscure the entire width of the bottom of the frame. I believe the SL3 behaves differently. Edited December 21, 2024 by hdmesa
jaapv Posted December 21, 2024 Share #11 Â Posted December 21, 2024 Indeed it does - I never gave it a thought - I tend to compose the shot before I press the shutter and use BBF on AF lenses. Half-press shutter is a rarity.
