Hi,

Does anyone know who repairs Leica Motor M 14408 in the US? Leica doesn't repair the film motors anymore.

Cheers

  • SOHODE changed the title to Looking for repair/service for a Leica Motor M 14408 in the US

Other Leica repairpersons I trust in the US, although I don't know if they repair motors, include Sherry Krauter and Youxin Ye. Gus Lazzari recently retired and his shop doubled their repair prices, but if you're willing to spend the $ they might be worth a try also. Good luck in your quest.

Issue within the electronics. Youxin Ye doesn't repair motors I already asked him.

If you can't articulate the problem with the electronics here I don't know how a repair person would understand the problem. Is it not switching on, is it erratic in behaviour, does it work on one camera and not another, etc. Maybe just buy another?

So if you can open it up there isn't much that it can be, and an electrician (if camera repair people won't take it on) with a multimeter should be able to test the circuit, switch and the motor to see which is faulty. It could be something very simple like dirty contacts or a broken solder joint somewhere but you may have a better chance with a camera repairer if you ask them to just have a look and find out what's wrong and then ask if it can be fixed.
