Swapping cards between bodies issue

Should an M11P be able to display images on a card that were taken with an SL3 or Q3?  Not that I expect it to or need it to but I mistakenly put card from SL3 in it and it would not read them correctly.  It appeared as bands and blocks of purple and green mess.

My Q3 images look the same when viewed on my M11.

Swapping cards between camera types has been a problem since the beginning of time - well, since the beginning of SD cards, that is. 

Simple rule: don't. 
And if you have to, format the card beforehand in SdFormatter, in need, at least format in the camera.
